At the recent Christmas / Award Gathering I have received a certificate for 10 years of contribution as a volunteer, mainly in property maintenance and gardening activities (amazing how time flies, if you have fun). And yes, I have enjoyed all those years at RDA Tall Timbers, working for a good cause and with friendly, motivated people (and horses). I was therefore very pleased, at the same occasion, to be chosen for the “2023 Volunteer of the Year Award”!

I know that all the other volunteers do a fantastic job throughout the year and each one of them could and should receive the same acknowledgment.  But what counts is, that whatever work we all do, is for the benefit of the people who come and enjoy the rides and special training provided by RDA Tall Timbers.

I hope and wish that we all can continue to do the good work for many years to come and wish everybody a very happy Christmas and all the best for 2024!

This program has benefited her so much. Even years ago, when she barely left the house, and we had to start homeschooling, this was a constant for her. Even then we had days where we had to cancel due to her anxiety. Now to see her go without anxiety, communicate with the volunteers on her own (I've actively tried to step back) and even cope with trotting (previously a lot of movement would cause panic). It is nothing short of amazing.
